National Capitol ContractingPosition Summary
This is a REMOTE position but candidates must be within the Mclean, VA area.
National Capitol Contracting, LLC is seeking a Staff Accountant who will support the accounting functions in all aspects of the department. The Staff Accountant position is an entry-level position and reports directly to the Controller. This position is 100% remote with occasional office visits to our Headquarters office located in McLean, VA.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Process Accounts Payable by coding and entering invoices into Deltek Costpoint, preparing semi-monthly EFT payment runs, processing employee reimbursements, and collaborating with departments and Project Managers to ensure accurate accounting of purchases and expenses.
- Prepare and post general ledger journal entries, complete monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations, review project expenses, and track subcontractor and vendor accruals in accordance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Process semi-monthly payroll using ADP by reviewing timesheets, recording payroll journal entries, maintaining Health & Welfare and benefit worksheets for SCA employees, and managing 401(k) participant records and contribution uploads.
- Maintain Deltek Costpoint and Deltek T&E data, including the Billing Master, Labor Category File, T&M Billing Rates File, Project Workforce, charge codes, leave balances, project budgets, contract modifications, and contract contact information.
- Assist with contract administration by supporting contract, project, billing, accounting, and new employee setup; interpreting basic contract terms and conditions; filing IFF/CAF reports for GSA Schedules; and registering new states for employment taxes.
- Reconcile timesheet hours between NCC and prime contractor timekeeping systems for billing, prepare month-end project financial and contract reports, and support purchase order requests, tracking, invoicing, and accruals.
- Prepare 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC forms, report Sales and Use Tax and General Excise and Use Tax for applicable states, and support external audits, including DCAA, GSA, and CPA firm audits.
- Maintain financial confidentiality by adhering to internal controls and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
- Minimum of 2 years' GOVCON experience with direct responsibilities that included finance, accounting and contracts functions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data sets to determine trends, establish strategies, and make decisions.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), FAR, FTR.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now payroll system.
- Experience using Deltek Costpoint for accounting, project accounting, payroll, or financial management.
Special Position Requirements
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, with flexibility to meet business needs.
Travel: Office visits are required once every two months to retrieve and distribute mail related to the Finance Department. Occasional on-site collaboration is also required at our Headquarters office in McLean, VA.
Compensation:
$60,000-$65,000.
