Management Accountant

Parental Leave Contract to July 2027

A purpose-driven, not-for-profit organisation is seeking a CPA-qualified Management Accountant to join the team on a parental leave contract through to July 2027, with flexibility for the right candidate to work between 0.6 FTE and 1.0 FTE.

About the role

As the Management Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting financial operations across the organisation. This position is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting across multiple areas of the business.

You will work closely with stakeholders, helping to ensure strong financial governance and informed decision-making.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Prepare month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and income recognition
• Review profit and loss results against budget and undertake trend analysis
• Manage the opening and closing of accounting periods
• Prepare monthly management and board reports
• Coordinate and prepare consolidated budgets and forecasts
• Provide day-to-day support and guidance to budget holders
• Reconcile ledger balances and manage associated cash transactions and invoicing
• Support with financial inputs for project budgets
• Maintain the asset register and complete monthly general ledger reconciliations
• Respond to annual audit queries
• Provide backup support to accounts payable

About you

This role will suit someone who is detail-focused, analytical and passionate about producing high-quality financial work. You enjoy understanding the "why" behind the numbers, can partner effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, and thrive in a values-driven environment.

Essential criteria

• CA/CPA qualified, or significant progress toward qualification
• 2+ years' experience in a similar accounting role
• Strong understanding of legal, compliance and regulatory requirements
• Proven ability to produce accurate and timely financial reports
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability
• Experience with accounting systems
