POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Accountant
Department: Finance
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Position Summary
The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the financial operations of the organization in compliance with healthcare regulations and not-for-profit accounting standards. This position performs routine accounting functions including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and preparation of financial statements. The role works closely with the CFO and the Finance team to ensure financial integrity, transparency, and timely reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Process and manage accounts payable, ensuring accurate coding, approvals, and timely payments.
Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies on a regular basis.
Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Maintain general ledger accounts and support documentation.
Support budget tracking and expense monitoring.
Assist with audits and provide documentation as requested.
Ensure compliance with healthcare and not-for-profit financial regulations and internal controls.
Collaborate with department leaders to resolve accounting questions and improve processes.
Maintain confidentiality of financial and organizational information.

Perform all other duties as directed by the Chief Financial Officer
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required
CPA not required
Accounting experience in healthcare or not-for-profit is preferred
Knowledge of generally accepted and not-for-profit accounting principles
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
Work Environment
Office-based position within a healthcare or senior living setting
Deadlines related to month-end or year-end reporting
